Description of the assignment and Grading Rubric

You will be creating a food web. (See page 22 in your text for an example.)

  1. Start by selecting an ecosystem.  Remember that an ecosystem is all the living and nonliving things in a given area that interacts with one another.
  2. Research your chosen ecosystem in the library, be sure to list the resources that you use for your bibliography.
  3. Select a third order consumer.  You must have at least four organisms which include a producer, consumer and a decomposer.  Make a rough sketch of your food web.
  4. You will create a food web poster with illustrations of each organism with lines and arrows showing relationships.  (See p.22 in your text)
  5. On the back of your poster you will attach a one page report about your organism and the relationships it has with the other organisms in its ecosystem.
  6. Your bibliography will be with your report.  (see pages 34-36 in Writing With Style to review how to do different types of resources in a bibliography)
