Databases
Twenty-first
century technology is having a profound effect on every
person, every organization, and every nation on the face of
the earth. Those
who have it and know how to use it are moving forward at an
unprecedented rate. Those
who don't are declining at the same dizzying pace.

From Shelly Cashman Textbook Online:
A database
is a collection of data organized in a manner that
allows access, retrieval, and use of that data. In a
computerized
database, data is stored in an electronic format on
a storage medium. Database software allows you to create
a computerized database; add, change, and delete data;
sort and retrieve data from the database; and create
forms and reports using the data in the database.
Another
widely used software application is spreadsheet
software, which allows you to organize numeric data in
rows and columns. These rows and columns collectively
are called a spreadsheet, or worksheet. Individuals who
frequently work with numbers (for example financial
statements and payroll), use
spreadsheets.
