Student Led Parent Conferences
Things you will need to bring:
1. Parent(s)
2. A sample from each of the following classes that you feel
represents your work: Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Math
3. Notebook, with current assignments in
4. Binder Reminder
Introduce everyone , as you shake hands. Here's the introduction to
the conference that you will read:
"We are meeting here today to share information on what I have
accomplished so far at Mesa Verde. We should discuss what my strengths
are, what goals I should set form myself, and how my parents and
teachers can help me to reach these goals."
Transition
1. Is this very different from elementary school? IF yes, how?
2. How do you feel you have adjusted to middle school?
3. Has this year gone well for you?
4. Are you keeping up in your binder reminder? SHOW US.
Your Learning Styles
1. From our work with learning styles, share with us what your
dominant learning styles are
2. What types of strategies work best for you?
3. What learning modalities to you want to strengthen?
Grades
1. Are there academic, effort, or citizenship grades that anyone
would like to discuss?
2. Are your grades a fair report of you work?
Work Samples
1. Show your parent and your teacher the samples of work that you
have chose as good examples of what you have done.
2. Explain what you like about them, and what you would like to
improve.
Learning Environment
1. Do you feel safe in our team?
2. Have you been able to find friends?
3. Do you like school? Where do you feel most successful? Where do
you need to work hardest?
Homework
1. How much homework do you seem to have?
2. How long does it take you to do it?
3. Is it appropriate to your skill level (Not too much or too hard?
Too little, or too easy?)
Goal and Actions
1. Allow your teacher to discuss the writing sample and MAT test
scores that she has.
2. What goals will you write in your binder reminder on p.2 ?
3. What can your parents do to help you?
4. What can your teachers do to help you?
Student Led Conferences
